Respondent Rachella A Brown's practical nurse license is reprimanded and Respondent shall complete ten (10) hours of continuing education ("CE") courses regarding the following topics: (a) Geriatics; (b) Dementia; (c)Alzheimer's and; (d)delegation of duties. In June 2017, Respondent disengaged a facility door alarm to the courtyard so residents could gain access to the courtyard for a brief period of time under the supervision of a certified nursing assistant ("CNA"). The CNA forgot to inform Respondent when the residents returned to the building. According to the IDPH Survey, a dementia resident exited the facility to enter the courtyard. The resident expired due to heat exposure.
